The Metastasizing Chair
1 in 8 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. One of the greatest predictors of survival is early detection, but many women aren’t aware of how young screening needs to start or just put off getting around to booking their first mammogram. With Breast Cancer Canada and the medical professionals recommending lowering the screening age to 40, we decided to create a poignant reminder of what could happen if we put things off: a metastasizing waiting room chair that shows how quickly a breast cancer tumour can grow undetected.
